Stuttgart Airport is a major international airport of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the third largest city of the state of Bavaria. It is named after the former mayor of Stuttgart (the first German mayor to fly in a fighter aircraft) and is the fifth busiest airport in all Germany with more than 11,000,000 passengers having passed through it in the past year. Most of its international flights come in from Switzerland or France and from London, Tokyo Haneda. It also serves direct flights from the United States, Spain and Turkey.
