Oberkochen

Oberkochen (Oberkohle) is a small town situated in the Oberkochenteis, a region in the Lower Saxony, central Germany. It was once known as Wursterburger (Wursterburg), which means "small town". It is named after Oberweilers. This name has become more popular nowadays and it has been shortened to Oberkohle.

You will find that there are plenty of historical sights in this charming little town. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2020. The medieval walls and castles of Oberkohle were used during the 12th century. As you wander around you will be surprised to see the amazing architecture of these great buildings and learn about the life of the people who lived here before they got on their horses to go to war.

Oberkochen, as mentioned, is a great place to visit in the winter. If you happen to be travelling with kids, you will want to make sure that they do not try and enter the frozen water on the river. The river is usually frozen by the winter. Children especially love trying to enter the icy waters of the river in the hopes that they will slip into the water and then they will have fun sledding down the frozen river.

Oberkochen has been described as a great place to visit all year round. This is not necessarily true for all parts of Germany though.
