Halle Berry in "The Devil Wears Prada" - Does This Movie Still Exist?

Halle Berry received five Oscars including a Best Actress award for her role in Frankie and Alice, which she also co-wrote and directed. In this movie, Berry played an actress who has been in a tragic love triangle for much of her film career. Berry received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance, and she was nominated again in 2020 for the film, Frankie & Alice: All I Really Need to Know about Love. In the film, Halle plays Alice, the daughter of an Italian-American man (John Tutturro) and a German woman (Dana Barron). Alice falls in love with Frank (Peter Sarsgaard), but he refuses to commit because he does not want to deal with the social stigma that comes along with being gay. Frank then becomes involved with his lover (Carol Kane) who is of another gender.

In the screenplay by Don Murphy, the character of Alice is a struggling actress. This gives her a lot of internal conflict and an emotional drive to keep working, despite the fact that she is unhappy with the relationship she is having with her boyfriend. The fact that she is a mother and an actress give her a unique kind of connection that the rest of Hollywood may not be as comfortable with. It is the kind of connection that you would expect to see between two people who were in a long term relationship and were now breaking up.

After Alice and Frank break up, Halle's character decides to quit acting altogether and pursue her dreams. She gets a job at a restaurant as a dishwasher, where she meets Peter Sarsgaard's Frank. They get along well until one night, Frank becomes very drunk and passes out on the restaurant floor. He later goes back home to tell Alice that he feels like she may be interested in him again, and she realizes that he is in love with her.

Alice soon realizes that there is no way she can move forward and accept Frank back into her life. As it turns out, she actually already knew from the beginning that she had fallen for Frank. even before they had dated, but because of society's expectations for women in Hollywood, she did not see herself as the type of girl who could easily let go of her dream. of becoming an actor. The love triangle that Alice and Frank were in only highlighted her lack of self-confidence and sense of worthlessness, and she realized she had to figure out how to change herself to achieve anything else in life.

The ending of the film is not a happy one for Alice and Frank. Alice and Frank reunite and it is clear from the screenplay that Alice has made the choice to leave the entertainment industry for good. But she still has some work to do in order to make herself happy again, and she realizes that she will not be able to stop being an actress if the public sees her as the girl who was so eager to quit after falling for a man who didn't really want her. Halle is still the actress she is, and her dedication to her craft shows in the acting she does today.
