The Power of Presence by Dr Roger Bruehl

Dr. Roger Bruehl is an author, psychiatrist, therapist and clinical psychologist. In his book "Pioneering a Path For Patients", he talks about the importance of patient centeredness in psychotherapy and how it relates to his practice. He also speaks of his own journey as a psychiatrist and practitioner and the many people that he has helped along the way. Dr. Bruehl's philosophy of practice is based on the idea that all patients have a story to tell and it is his job to listen to that story and weave it into a story that helps their therapy to go well.

This is a classic quote and Dr. Roger Bruehl's philosophy is based on this. His approach is based on helping each patient find a purpose in therapy.

As a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist, he works with patients who are trying to find answers to questions like: "Why am I doing this? What is going on inside me? What am I trying to express?"

These are all questions that patients often ask themselves and the answers to which may be different than those of other therapists. The question that Dr. Bruehl frequently asks himself is: "What can you do now that you want to do now?" He asks himself the question to ask myself and he asks his patients to ask themselves the same question.

The goal of psychotherapy is to present a good story that makes the patient feel that he is in control of his life. That he is in control of his emotions, mind and body. It is up to the patient to choose whether he believes in his story or not. If a patient believes that he is in control, he is more likely to follow the psychotherapist's advice. If a patient does not believe that he is in control, then he will resist the psychotherapist's suggestion. and resistance to treatment is the beginning of a vicious cycle.

Patients need to be comfortable in the office, where they are comfortable, in the therapist's office, and in the environment of the home or group setting. If the environment is unsupportive, the patient will resist treatment. If it is supportive, the patient will resist treatment because the environment is not supportive enough. The goal should be to create a place for the patient where he can work and the environment is supportive enough to allow the patient to feel in control.
